How is upload time calculated?
Time equals file size divided by upload speed. A file's size is in bytes (8 bits each) and connection speed is in megabits per second, so the maths converts between them. We also add about 20% for real-world overhead, because you rarely get your full quoted speed during a sustained upload.
Why is my upload slower than my download?
Most home broadband is asymmetric: the download speed is much higher than the upload speed. Sending a large file uses your upload speed, which is often a fraction of the download figure your ISP advertises. Check your upload speed specifically with a speed test.
