How does password protection work?

You set a password on the transfer, and the share page asks for it before showing or downloading any files. Share the link openly and the password separately, and only the right person gets in.

Is password protection on the free plan?

Password protection is a Pro and Squad feature. It's one of the most-requested upgrades, since it turns any link into a private one.

What stops someone guessing the password?

Attempts are rate-limited in the database, with a lockout after repeated failures. That kills brute-force guessing without locking out a legitimate recipient who mistypes once.

Can I password protect a payment-gated transfer?

Yes. Password protection and payment gating both gate the same share page, so you can require a password and a payment if you want both layers.

What if the recipient forgets the password?

You set it, so you can just tell them again, or send the file as a new transfer with a fresh password. We never store the password in plain text, so we can't read it back.
